Experience the charm & history of
Vale Hill House

Stay at the luxurious Vale Hill House, a historic four-bedroom retreat within the iconic estate in Victoria’s Goldfields. This beautifully renovated 1858 stone and brick home offers sweeping views of the Volcanic Plain’s rolling fields, framed by distant ancient volcanoes.

Vale Hill spans 10 acres (4 hectares), with half dedicated to paddocks and the remainder featuring the house, and one of the state’s largest domestic edible gardens. Designed as a labyrinth of fruit trees and shrubs, the garden includes many rare and unusual species, alongside sweeping terraced beds for seasonal and annual plantings.

This grand residence is one of the regions finest homes, comprising four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, two kitchens and a double-height entrance hall, along with several dens, lounge rooms and entertaining areas. Impeccable interior design by Stuart Rattle defines the spaces. Original bluestone walls, aged hardwood lintels and sashless windows maintain the nineteenth-century aesthetic, paired with a striking industrial-styled steel staircase and an impressive glass feature panel installed above the original stone wall which floods the interior with natural light beneath an expansive metal roof.

The kitchen is an entertainer’s delight with an Aga oven, 2 Miele ovens, 2 dishwashers and a gas cooktop. The master bedroom suite presents views to Mt Kooroocheang and features balcony, ensuite, private den and study. Two spacious guest bedrooms on the ground floor share a second spa bathroom and a lounge. There is a self-contained apartment in the adjoining “Barn” that includes a lounge area, bathroom and kitchenette. The house itself comprises four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two kitchens, and a double-height entrance hall.

Beyond the house, there is an exquisite, heated swimming pool complete with a deck and panoramic views over the district (open from October to April). For cooler evenings, a cosy outdoor firepit with a cooking rack provides the perfect space for relaxed entertaining under the stars. The ruined remains of the old milking shed have been transformed into a charming grotto, known as the Champagne Room, with a domed iron roof and laser-cut fences creating an intimate, atmospheric space.

Vale Hill House is perfect for indulging in the region's finest food and wine. Guests can dine in the 30 metre pergola area or explore the expansive gardens. Vale Hill House offers a unique blend of history and modern luxury, allowing you to step into the story and legacy of one of the region’s most treasured properties.
